Why metric?

In this section we consider the question in some depth, but a more concise summary can be found in our press section.

We should change to metric because:

The need to change to metric is not a party political issue. Articles in favour of metrication have appeared in The Mail on Sunday, the Daily Express and The Spectator, while both Lord Howe and Malcolm Bruce MP have written pieces in support.

There are many people in Britain who find that using metric makes their
work or hobbies easier. UKMA has invited people from different walks of life
to say why they use metric and why Britain should finish its changeover. (See our Endorsements page).

In addition to the positive arguments for metrication we deal with objections to metrication on our myths page. The press section also contains a summary on this aspect of metrication.
